Wow, here it is. My first blog. To tell you the truth, I
never thought I would be a blogger. That was for the cool kids who could
articulate their thoughts into interesting cohesive articles. I never would
have tried if it weren’t for the assignment we were given in a business
class. I dreaded it and briefly thought
about dropping the class… As I read the instructions for the blog, I latched
onto one word. Journal. ”Hey,” I thought, “I can do that!” As I reflected on the importance of journals,
another thought occurred to me. How many times have I let something as simple,
like the semantics of an assignment prevent me from doing what I needed to get
done?
I like to think that I am pretty stalwart. If something is
worth doing, it should be done right-regardless of how I feel about it. One of my favorite mottoes is “I can do hard
things”, or as one of my friends is fond of saying “Mom up”, her own take on
the phrase “man up”. My family recently
suffered a devastating loss, and I was not sure if I could handle working full
time, raising kids, and going to school,
all while dealing with the heartbreak. The only thing that prevented me from
taking a semester off was the concern that I would not return after a break. Sometimes
we simply need to put our trust in the Lord, a smile on our face and “Mom up";
do what needs to be done. This is true
in all aspects of life, whether it’s family, school, or a career. So here’s to this semester! Let’s Mom UP! And
get it done!!
